How to solve a cryptogram

Every letter of the original message has been replaced by another letter — consistently. The same cipher symbol always means the same plaintext letter.
Open the frequency analysis panel: in English text the most common letters are E, T, A, O, I, N. The most frequent cipher symbol is probably one of them.
Tap a cipher letter in the transmission, then assign your guess from the keyboard. Wrong guess? Reassign at any time — the board updates live.
Use structure: one-letter words are A or I; a three-letter word starting the sentence is often THE; an apostrophe is usually followed by S, T or RE.

The monoalphabetic substitution cipher is where cryptanalysis began — and frequency analysis, first described by the 9th-century scholar Al-Kindi, is still the first move every codebreaker learns. Solving cryptograms trains pattern recognition, vocabulary retrieval and hypothesis testing: you propose a mapping, watch the text resolve or garble, and revise. It's deduction under uncertainty, in miniature.
